The Worshipful Master has chosen to support the Charity 'Victoria Police Legacy' for his term of office. Victoria Police Legacy is aligned with the values of Freemasons with the act of outreach and care. The organisation provides a range of services to the police families throughout Victoria who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Our lodge intends to support scholarships for youth and the particular project is currently being researched. The Mission Statement of Victoria Police Legacy is:
Victoria Police Legacy strives to ensure that no spouse/partner or child of a deceased police officer or protective services officer feels forgotten or in need of support.
To achieve this, Victoria Police Legacy constantly asks these questions:
- If the police officer or protective services officer was alive what would they want for their family?
- What opportunities would they have tried to give their children?
- How can Victoria Police Legacy assist this family so they remain a part of the police family?
- How can Victoria Police Legacy enhance the lives of this family?
Every year more members of the police family become part of the Police Legacy family. We are here to support them, not just for the short term, but forever.
The organisation has existied for over 45 years (from 1980) and has set up a number of programmes, become a registered charity and has set up a number of grants to help the various facets of the lives of police families who have suffered the loss of a loved one in Victoria. More history is available here.
The organisation has a strategic plan which also includes a vision to "Connect and support Victoria Police Legacy families", this strategic plan is also available for viewing here.
